Licensed Practical Nursing Program
The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society and Lake Area Technical Institute

WHAT: A Diploma in Practical Nursing (LPN) offered online for employees and Society-approved health-care partners. Lake Area Technical Institute (LATI) in Watertown, SD awards the diploma.

AVAILABLE AREA: The program is currently available to individuals residing in South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska and Montana.

BENEFITS:
  • Offered on a part-time schedule
  • Allows staff to work, earn and learn
  • Courses are offered online
  • Clinical practice requirements are conducted in Watertown, SD, and additional clinical hours are required in the student's community

RECOGNITION/ACCREDITATION: The Practical Nursing program is accredited by the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission and approved by the South Dakota Board of Nursing.

COST ESTIMATES: Tuition and fees are approved by Lake Area Technical Institute and the Watertown, SD Board of Education.

TIME TO EARN DIPLOMA: Once pre-requisite courses are complete, a person will typically earn the degree as a part-time student in about two years.

SCHOLARSHIP/LOANS: Employees are invited to visit with their center administrator about financial assistance that may be available through local resources or the Hoeger Scholarship and Center Education Program. Some states may offer scholarship/grant or loan assistance through the state Board of Nursing or another state government agency.
