BSN Upward Mobility Option
The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society and South Dakota State University
WHAT: An RN Upward Mobility option leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. The online option
is designed to build on a licensed registered nurse's past education and experience. South Dakota State University
(SDSU) is located in Brookings, SD.
AVAILABLE AREA: All states served by The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society.

- Nursing and support courses offered online
- All clinical practicum requirements performed in your own community with local agencies and families
- No wait list once admitted to the nursing program while current funding exists
- Credit earned from the USD RN program and many other accredited ADN nursing programs has been articulated for transfer to SDSU
- One year full time or two years part time
ACCREDITATION: The SDSU College of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

COST ESTIMATES: Tuition and fees are approved by the South Dakota Board of Regents effective each May.
It is important to discuss an estimated cost with the advisor.
TIME TO EARN DEGREE: Typically one to two years, but this depends on the number of transferable credits and
how many courses a student can take each semester. The nursing core requirements are delivered to allow a student
to complete the degree in one year full time or two years part time.
SCHOLARSHIP/LOANS: Employees are invited to visit with their Center Administrator about financial assistance
that may be available through local resources. Some states may offer scholarship/grant or loan assistance through
the state Board of Nursing or another state government agency. Please inquire about SDSU nursing scholarships with your advisor.
